Elibility Assessments

An eligibility assessment is conducted to determine an individual’s eligibility to selected programs and services. An assessment may be requested by an individual or by a contracted agency that requires persons to meet specific criteria in order to qualify for services, such as gifted and talented programs within school districts and persons with developmental disabilities. The eligibility assessment may include evaluations for learning disabilities, intellectual functioning, neuropsychological functioning, giftedness, developmental disabilities, emotional issues, and behavioral difficulties. The results of the assessment will be used to determine whether or not the individual will be eligible for the selected services.

Service Providers

All services are provided by Graduate students enrolled in the Division of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary. Graduate students in the Doctoral and Masters Programs in Counselling Psychology, School and Applied Child Psychology, and Human Learning and Development work under the supervision of qualified faculty. Graduate students receive both group and individual supervision.

Fees

A complete psychological assessment costs $1150.00 which includes testing, report writing, and a conference with the parent/guardian or the client.

For individual counselling interventions, the fee is $95.00 for 50 minutes. Clients must pay for the assessment services at the first appointment and counselling services at the beginning of each appointment.

U-CAPES accepts cash or cheques. Please make cheques payable to the University of Calgary. Group interventions will be available as the need arises and fees for such services will be stipulated at that time. If clients have been referred by a contracted agency, fees will be paid by that agency.
