Virtual reality and simulation are two areas on the leading edge of educational technology. Are these effective modes of teaching and learning? Are these practical in today's educational settings? What are design considerations and the possibilities and the challenges? What does research say?
This course will be of interest to a wide variety of students, including teachers in K-12 classrooms, trainers in corporate, medical, military, industry and aerospace sectors, and instructional designers. Students from other faculties, (e.g., computer science, kinesiology, architecture, medicine) may also be interested in exploring educational applications of virtual reality and simulation in their own areas of study. No programming or technology background is necessary, but basic familiarity with computers would be useful.
