Dr. Hwang joined the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary in August 2011. She taught secondary science in Korea from 1995 to 2002. She obtained her PhD at Seoul National University with her major in science education (physics). She conducted her postdoctoral study at the University of Victoria, BC. She has extensive experience of teaching and educational research in Canada, Korea, and Singapore.
Dr. Hwang’s research focuses on knowing and learning in science and mathematics classroom. Her publications focus on the embodied and bodily nature of knowing science/mathematics, multimodality of communication, and qualitative research methods.
