Faculty members enjoy a success record in obtaining research grants such as AHFMR Travel Grants, Killam Resident Fellowships, University Endowment Fund, Special Projects Grants, URGC Grants – Travel, Starter, and Short-Term Project, UIGC Grants, as well as the prestigious and highly competitive SSHRC Standard Research Grants.

Information about grant funding opportunities for all faculties can be found on the University of Calgary Research website. The major external funding agency for Education research is the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). SSHRC offers a number of funding programs including the Initiative on the New Economy (INE), the Standard Research Grants program, as well as Strategic Joint Initiatives and Fellowships programs.

Research Services and Research Accounting plays an important role in linking the University of Calgary's research community with funding opportunities that range in size and scope, as well as complexity. There are numerous external grants, programs focused on funding infrastructure, programs focused on industry partnerships, chairs and professorships, prizes and awards, as well as internal grants offered by the university.

Internal Grants

Some grants and awards are available through the University of Calgary with the application process administered by the Internal Grants subunit. These grants and awards may support a range of activities related to research, including but not limited to travel, conferences, opportunities abroad as well as exceptional research-related costs.
