A Message From the Dean

Dean Dennis SumaraOn behalf of the staff and faculty, current students and alumni, and our many external partners, I’d like to welcome you to the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary. Our faculty is one of Canada’s leading centres for educational studies and we are continually evolving to improve the manner in which we teach and learn. We strive to be innovative, creative, and dynamic in our programs, and our graduates possess the qualities of leadership and engagement necessary to be successful in today’s changing world.

 Today, more than ever, the emphasis is on excellence in education—both for the teachers coming from academic institutions and for the students they’ll engage. The U of C Faculty of Education is one of Canada's leading centres for educational studies and is recognized worldwide for excellence in research and community service. We offer an innovative teacher preparation program and a variety of graduate degrees, diplomas and certificates in educational research and applied psychology, on campus as well as online. We also prepare international students to study at the U of C through our English for Academic Purposes courses. All our programs are designed to prepare our graduates to work in a wide range of fields to meet the evolving needs of today's society.
