Undergraduate Programs in Education

Undergraduate Programs in Education (UPE) offers a two-year Bachelor of Education degree (BEd) to prepare professional teachers for the K-12 school system. The degree is offered through two pathways: a Consecutive (After-Degree) Program and a Consecutive (Direct-Entry)Program. Beginning in 2011, graduating high school students can apply for direct entry into both the faculties of arts, science, or kinesiology, and the Faculty of Education simultaneously; students who choose this option have the opportunity to graduate with two degrees in five years.

Graduate Programs in Education

Graduate Programs in Education (GPE) offers research oriented Master's (MA, MSc) and doctoral degrees (PhD) delivered on-campus as well as professional oriented Master's (MEd, MC) and doctoral degrees (EdD) graduate diplomas and graduate certificates offered off-campus. GPE currently has eight areas of research specialization: Adult Learning, Curriculum and Learning, Counselling Psychology, Interdisciplinary Studies, Language and Diversity, Leadership, School & Applied Child Psychology, and Technology.

Professional and Community Engagement (PACE)

The Faculty of Education's Office of Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) was formed to initiate and support the ongoing development of professional and community learning opportunities within Canada and internationally.

Galileo Educational Network

Galileo Educational Network is an independent, charitable organization that consists of thought-leading educators and a high profile Board of Directors. The Galileo Educational Network creates, promotes and disseminates innovative teaching and learning practices through research, professional learning and fostering external collaborations. Galileo works with students, teachers and policy makers across Canada both onsite and online.

Professional Programs

Professional Graduate Programs offers a range of programs. These include direct entry and cohort-based Masters in Education (MEd), Masters in Counselling (MC), and a range of laddered programs which commence at the Graduate Certificate level, with the potential to move up to a Graduate Diploma and further ladder to the completion of a Masters in Education.
